Day 5-A picture of somewhere you've been to

This is a picture of a beautiful ravine in New Hampshire. We went to visit Jason and Steph and they took us to visit places all over the northeast. It was the first time I had been past Michigan and I was so shocked at how green and beautiful it was.

Day 4-A habit that you wish you didn't have

I procrastinate, and to illustrate that point I put this post up a day late. Totally on purpose. No, really.

Day 3-A picture of you and your friends

This challenge bored me so instead of doing it I am going to tell a funny thing that happened last night.

Marti asked us last night if she could wake up early today and watch Saturday morning cartoons before Mom and Dad got up. For some reason she thinks that waking up early is fun, I don't know why, maybe because she rarely does it (she is not an early bird at all). No big deal, I thought she would be up around 8 maybe 7 at the earliest. WRONG. I was sleeping quite soundly at 1:30 in the morning when I heard the tv downstairs. In my sleep induced haze I was sure that burglars, or maybe a wild animal, had broken into our house so I poked Kory until he woke up and made him go down to investigate. He went down the stairs and there were Marti and Emy sitting on the couch watching cartoons in the middle of the night. As we were putting them back to bed Marti said to me "But Mom, you didn't tell me I couldn't wake up at 1:30", I forget how literally she takes everything. I should probably give her more exact instructions next time.

Day 2-The meaning behind your Blog name

Just one day in and already behind, what a slacker. The name of my blog is Good Times, Noodle Salad which is a quote from the movie As Good As It Gets. I like the movie and I liked the quote and I thought it was kind of unconventional just like our kind of unconventional little family.

Day 1-Recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts about yourself

This is my most recent photo, it is me ice skating, the word skating is probably too generous it is really more like holding on to the wall for dear life.

15 interesting things about myself...tricky, I don't find myself that interesting so this may be a stretch.

1. I can't sleep if my feet are hot.
2. I don't like the volume on the tv to be on an odd number.
3. Popcorn is my favorite food (yes, I know it barely counts as "food")
4. My kids are 13 months apart, that's kind of more interesting about them but I was involved so it counts.
5. I really, really, really hate chair lifts.
6. I love sports talk radio, especially Dan Patrick.
7. I put salt on my apples.
8. Pretty much everything reminds me of a song.
9. Every morning my kids come in my bed and snuggle with me, it is the best part of my day.
10. I don't eat fish. At all. Don't like it. Let it go Kory I'm not giving in.
11. I love what most people would consider to be weird movies.
12. My favorite book is Wuthering Heights.
13. I can get motion sickness from almost anything, i.e. snorkeling, amusement park rides, swinging etc. (don't even talk to me about helicopters I may throw up)
14. I love water, looking at it, swimming in it or kayaking on it.
15. My feelings get hurt easily but I have a hard time expressing my hurt, it usually shows up as indifference and detachment.

Feliz Navidad

Another Christmas has come and gone. The girls were as funny as usual about their presents. When they got really excited about something they would say things like "just what I have always wanted!" and "this is the best day of my life!".

Marti has been asking for twinkle toes (shoes that light up) for a few months and she finally got them, she was thrilled. Emersyn got a boom box that she can carry around with her so she can groove out anytime the mood strikes, which is a lot. They were both overjoyed with their zhu zhu track and their special present from Daddy, a Princess Wii game. I was super elated to get a Kindle. And we all loved our snowman band figurines from Jon and Michelle, as Emersyn would say they are "rockin".

We had a great Christmas season, which included Emersyn's and Marti's Christmas programs (Emersyn does the funniest Feliz Navidad dance), ice skating, seeing the lights downtown, going tubing at Soldier Hollow and eating (lots and lots of eating) among many other things.

Pictures of the season....

The Enforcer

If you look closely at this awful picture you will see Marti sitting behind a little boy with a mohawk. This was taken during her Christmas Program at school, I couldn't get any good pictures because I was too far away.

During the program the little boy with the mohawk started goofing around with the kid he was sitting next to. Marti was not going to put up with that so she tapped him on the shoulder and when he turned around she didn't say anything she just shook her head no and gave him a look that said if you don't cut it out there's gonna be trouble. He must have gotten the point because he turned back around and hung his head like he had just gone to the principal's office. The entire audience was laughing and Marti just carried on singing unaware of how incredibly funny it was.

These are some pictures I took after Marti's program. Just for the record I would like it to be noted that I did not dress Marti and Emersyn in the same outfits, they did that themselves.
